1. Home Management

• Oversee day-to-day operations and the overall management of the home.
• Ensure a safe, structured, and supportive environment for all YPs.

2. Young Person Welfare and Development

• Supervise and support the welfare, progression, and personal development of each YP.
• Conduct and document weekly reflective sessions with YP to assess progress and address concerns.

3. Record Keeping and Compliance

• Monitor and review all essential documentation, including daily logs, weekly reports, key work sessions, care plans, and risk assessments.
• Ensure strict compliance with regulatory and safeguarding requirements.

4. Meetings and External Engagements

• Attend quality assurance inspections, social worker visits, LAC reviews, as well as education and health meetings.
• Represent the home in external engagements to uphold the best interests of YP.

5. Staff Supervision and Training

• Conduct monthly staff supervision sessions to evaluate performance and ensure adherence to best practices.
• Identify training needs and coordinate professional development for staff.
• Oversee the recruitment and induction processes for new staff members.

6. Safeguarding Investigations

• Proactively investigate any LADO (Local Authority Designated Officer) and safeguarding issues.
• Ensure prompt resolution and strict adherence to safety protocols.

7. Team Leadership and Communication

• Chair weekly house meetings to discuss operations, address concerns, and plan improvements.
• Actively participate in weekly management meetings to ensure cohesive leadership.
• Foster a collaborative and positive work environment among all staff members.

8. Relationship Building

• Build and maintain strong professional relationships with young persons, external professionals, and families.
• Promote open communication and a collaborative approach to care.

• Proven experience managing a residential children's home or a similar setting focused on the care of children and young people.
• Demonstrable experience in leading, supervising, and developing staff teams within a residential childcare environment.
• Strong understanding and practical application of safeguarding principles, child protection procedures, and experience liaising with LADO and other relevant agencies.
• In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and quality standards pertaining to children's homes (e.g., Ofsted framework).
• Experience in developing, implementing, and reviewing care plans, risk assessments, and key work sessions tailored to the individual needs of children and young people.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build positive relationships with young people, their families, staff, and external professionals (social workers, educators, health practitioners).
• Essential: Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent qualification, or willingness to work towards it).
• Experience managing budgets and resources within a care setting is desirable.
• Full UK Driving Licence is often required for roles covering multiple sites.
